Warcraft History: Lorekeeper Polkelt!

Zombie_ChowLorekeeper Polkelt was a level 60 elite zombie mini-boss found in the Scholomance and was added to the game June 28, 2006.

Scholomance, former House of Barov, on a rise overlooking the abandoned city of Caer Darrow, it fell into ruin following the Second War.

Originally, Polkelt was one of the six mini-bosses (17 total boss’s total with in the instance) that are required to call forth Darkmaster Gandling. As the wizard Kel’thuzad enlisted followers for his Cult of the Damned, he would often promise immortality in exchange for serving the Lich King. The Barov family fell to Kel’thuzad’s influence and donated the keep and its crypts to the Scourge. The cultists then killed the Barovs and turned the ancient crypts into a school for necromancy.

During Cataclysm, Patch 4.0.1 specifically his level was reduced from 60 to 43. In the early patch’s of Pandaria, 5.0.4 he was removed from the game entirely due to the major Scholomance revamp. The most notable fact about Polkelt was he did not drop a Corruptor’s Scourgestone, a well sought after shirt.

He and a few other boss’s were other removed or changed and honestly, It was so long ago that I do not remember the previous version entirely; however, I find it interesting that he does not have some sort of reference somewhere else. I do have fond memory’s of leveling and running instances.

I at this point am interested in running Scholomance for giggles on a toon or two to see if I can revive old memories of how the instance was in comparison to how it is now.

You’r WoW Soundtrack, Part 10: Rob Zombie!

Rob_Zombie_Living_Dead_Girl.jpgGreetings & salutations!

If you just so happen to live under a rock, do not have access to the internet, or a basic calendar, not only would you not be reading this but you would also not know that this Friday is the 13th. I decided to give this weeks blog post’s a theme.

If you have not figured it out by now the theme is Zombie’s. The theme is inspired by my D&D group that is currently running, Secrets Of Talonguard. If you are interested in listening to our campaign here is an iTunes link for you! (Click here!)

“Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International” is the solo debut album by Rob Zombie on August 25, 1998. The album serves as his first release outside of the band White Zombie, with whom he released two multi-platinum studio albums. The song “Living Dead Girl” is the second single from the album and I absolutely love it.  The music video for the single derives its imagery from Robert Wiene’s 1920 silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, with Zombie in the role of The Doctor.

It is wild to think that I have been a fan for this long but I have absolutely enjoyed the musical adventure. Thank you for all of the hard work and music Mr. Zombie. Really!

Community Spotlight: Navox!

navox.jpg1 You have been a co host on several different podcast for a while, how long have you been podcasting and what is your favorite thing about co hosting?

I really like to chat about things I am interested in. I’ve podcasted about tv shows/ movies and Warcraft. I’ve been playing Warcraft for a very long time and I love to have conversations with those folks who share the same interest in the game

2 What are some of the Wow community content you enjoy following? (podcast, blogs, videos, ect.)

The Starting Zone with Jason and Spencer, this is the World of Warcraft podcast if you want to know what’s going on in wow.

The Converted – I try to catch this live, but I will watch on the following Tuesday at work if I miss it.

FrazlCast – that one takes me 2 days to listen to on the way into work and going home. lol

Lagging Balls, The Instance, Rolling Restart, Hearthcast,  Of course Realm Maintenance

I used to try to listen to all of the wow community podcasts but I found that I do not listen enough to get through all of them before new podcasts are out.

Also, Non wow podcasts…. Stuff you should know, Gonna Geek, Branded in the 80s, Major Nelson Radio.

3 Do you have any advice for someone who is getting into creating fan made content (like podcasting, art, blogging, music, etc.)?

4 Can you tell us how you found WoW and what has kept you playing?

It was mainly the evolution in the mmo environment that brought me into wow. I had been playing Ultima Online, and then when Everquest came out, I swapped to EQ, and then when Warcraft was released my friends jumped the EQ ship and got me to reluctantly come along and the funny thing was, I hated wow at the start. It wasn’t EQ and I hated the 3rd person view. Lol. I really wasn’t liking the way everquest was going so I stuck it out with wow since my friends were all there and I’ve been in wow ever since.

5 What was the first ever character you rolled & Which factors determined your faction choice in the game at the time?

  • Do you still play on that faction and character?
  • What made you change?

The first character I ever rolled was a warrior but, that was the initial wave of me trying out wow. I actually do not have my original wow account. My buddy does.

The first toon I ever truly got involved with and adventured with is my Rogue. The 2nd time I was coaxed into playing wow with my friend Mark B and they needed a tank so I transported Navox from the Icy Tundra of the permafrost over to Azeroth.

6 What has been your most memorable moment in Warcraft and why?

Its hard to pick only one. If I had to pick one though it would be Heroic Siegecrafter in siege of orgrimmar this was before Mythic mode had come out and Siegecrafter was a roadblock. My raid group spent endless nights on this and we finally got it right before they nerfed it. It was one of the best memories.

7 With a new expansion on it’s way, what are you looking forward to most I’m “Battle For Azeroth”?

The Kul Tirans, I have been looking for a larger than human race for a long time.

8 With the return to the factional divide in “Battle For Azeroth”, Horde or Alliance?

Alliance
