MTG Monday: Eldrazi Mimic!

Over the weekend I went to a local gaming store that sold a bunch of older games and various systems. They just so happened to have a small selection of Magic! The Gathering cards available to purchase. They had Oath of the Gatewatch, Ixalan, and Ravnica Allegiance booster pack’s. My eyes focused on Gatewatch, so I picked a pack up.

When I got home I put my stuff away and sat the pack on my desk. I opened up the MTGGoldfish website and busted open the pack of cards. Upon opening the pack, I got some very basic cards. Their was one card that caught my eye. That card being Eldrazi Mimic. A creature that swaps power and toughness with another colorless creature when it enters the battlefield.

The flavor text is “It is consistently inconsistent.”

I found that tag line absolutely hilarious and true.

MTG Monday: I Have Been Recruited!

Magic! card back!

If you seen the gift that I had gotten my younger brother this past Christmas, you know that he now has a lot of work to do. You can see the pictures in the following post: https://zephirahsadventure.wordpress.com/2018/12/17/mtg-monday-christmas-came-early/

He received a box of one thousand Magic! The Gathering cards from a company by the name of “Star City Games” and it has been very slow going when it comes to entering it into the MTGGoldfish site. So, I have been recruited to help him out with the data entry. With in a two hour period I had entered about one hundred cards into the site for him.

I honestly do not mind doing some data entry. I am just happy he is enjoying his Christmas gift.

As I stated in the linked blog post above, if you are looking for a gift for a MTG fan in your life, it may be worth it to get the one thousand card box for them. You can purchase it via Amazon here!

MTG Monday: Magic The Gathering Arena!

Last week, a member of the raid team I run with in Warcraft had made a suggestion.

His suggestion was to download and play “Magic: The Gathering! Arena”. My younger brother, who also plays and collect’s MTG Cards, made the suggestion to me as well. I have also seen several people play the game via twitch as well. So, I quickly went over to the Wizards Of The Coast website and did so.

I figured, I would play 2 or 3 nights a week, and get better at mechanic’s. Honestly, it is fun. I really am enjoying my time spent in the game thus far.

So, for those of you that are looking to play more MTG, and have minimal time, this may also be a good way to scratch the itch!

You can download the game here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/mtgarena

Thursday Thoughts: 2019 In Full Swing!

Less then a week into the year and I already am itching to get to some local places that sell, and have game nights for, and encourage a safe place to play for Magic! The Gathering.

With my Magic! The Gathering and Warcraft goals, I am super excited to say that this year should be no less then amazing for gaming!

The other thing that I am super excited about is the D&D one shot that I will be in with a couple friends from my raid team! (Hi Chickens, Love your faces!)

In a later post and podcast episode, I will let you know how my search is going for finding a tournament, where I am with my Warcraft goals, and how the one shot went. I am so excited, I cant even stand it at the moment!

MTG Monday: 2019 Goal’s!

One of my favorite modern set’s with in Magic! The Gathering is Amonkhet. Other then the varying degrees of the Ajani planeswalker, Amonkhet has stolen my heart from the beginning of my journey with MTG.

My goal for 2019 for MTG is to round out my collection and gather a few cards for my white and red deck to have some choices and to modify the deck on the fly. I also am starting to pull a few ideas for a green deck as well. Amonkhet seems to be a good start.

By the summer, I want to be able to have done enough collecting and research to do a round of tournament’s. Nothing for money at this point but to at least get a feel for what I would be getting myself into.

I figure it this way, why not interact with the cards that made me fall in love with the game and have fun in the process!

MTG Monday: Looking Forward to 2019!

So, with all of the card’s that my younger brother received as a Christmas gift, I am going to put him to work.

The goal for the following year is for us to build a few deck’s and have a weekly game to see how we do against each other and to continue to grow our collections to set ourself up with a few decks.

By this time next year, I would love to see if we could have our own family tournament and see who wins. Just for fun. At least that is the plan.

Then, when we feel like we are ready, we will work to get into actual tournaments.
