Warcraft Wednesday: Confessions Of A Raider? (or PVP’er!)

wowscrnshot_090218_011625.jpgI have been provided an idea for a segment for Zephirah’s Adventure Podcast that I would like to try. It will be called “Confessions Of A Raider” and similarly to the previous “Community Spotlight’s” there will be several questions for the participant to answer.

Obviously, these questions will be specific to raiding (or pvp) and the experience of the player.

If you would like to participate in the “Confessions Of A Raider / PVP’er!” please reach out to me via twitter @Zephirah_Zella or on Discord.

Thursday Thoughts: Azerite Gear

traits-azerite-interfaceI would like to start by saying that not everyone is in the loud minority that complain’s about everything that is wrong with the current state of World Of Warcraft. I also know that not everyone knows how to approach Blizzard with an appropriate suggestion to resolve the current issues. We as players need to remember that we are players and not a developer of games. At least the vast majority of us never actually designed a game from the ground up. Nor do we have the said skills to do so. Most of us need to learn our place in the world.

For the entitlement part of this situation, I guess the casuals casualed their way to casually high casual item level. You have to work for what you want even if you do not like how things are working out. I know that I do not like the Azerite system but I am not letting it be a focal point on how I play the game. I have always enjoyed pet battling and running old raid’s solo on my main and plethora of alts. Neither of them involve Azerite or the gear involved in that system. As a by product, I am gathering gold as a passive way to keep me above water and to purchase mats for raiding on Tuesday night’s with my raid team in Convert To Raid. The Rubber Chicken Coalition is a great group of people and I am super happy that they let me tag along on weekly basis.

The current issue with Azerite each piece has a predetermined set of traits that can not change under any circumstances. Even if a reforge was allowed on the item, it would cause a huge amount of gold and you may not get the trait that you are needing on that particular character that you would need. The randomness of it all seems to be janky at best. I know not everyone has the time or energy to spend trying to get the gear from lfr or normal due to work and family life. Also, for the ones who are suggesting to add Azerite pieces to mythic pluses, it will currently not fix the randomness of it all and it will remain the same situation.

With that all being said, I busted my butt to get my priest where she is currently. Is it great, no. However, I am making the most of the situation with what I have. I know I have to adjust around the gear I have. What I can say in a positive light for Azerite gear is that Blizzard is trying out a new way to do thing and it may take a little bit to perfect it. Now everything takes five minuets to fix or adjust in game. I know that the Warcraft team is making an effort to look at things, do their research, and apply changes to the gear that is the game currently. For that, I thank them for working so hard.

So, you are going to ask what it will take for the Azerite gear to be good? Take a look at your own games, specifically Warcraft. What worked in previous expansions? What did not and why? If something worked previously but was overpowered, how can you adjust it for the Azerite gear? What about your other IP’s like Diablo?

I had seen in one of the many forum post on the Blizzard website about “Azerite Rewiring”. It seems to be a semi-decent idea. It covers cost for redoing each ring of traits, and with each time you choose that it would randomize the traits in each ring with one of those said traits will always be there. Meaning each ring would have an improved base trait. I am not sure if this is something that is feasible from a development side. However, these are my thoughts and hopefully they will take a look at the loot!

Warcraft: Why do you play your faction?

Zephirah Gnome 2The lovely Z and Cinder had posted a wonderful question that I just had to answer!

Why do you play your faction? For starter’s, I play (or have been known) both Horde and Alliance; however, I do have my main currently on the Alliance side. I have, or at least for as long as I can remember, bounced back and forth between the factions with a plethora of alts.

At one point, Zephirah, the priest was a gnome. I have a rather lengthy roll play story for her. To make a long story short though Zephirah was a gnome working just outside of Stormwind at the king’s request, found out that her father died and wanted to go and find his body. She wanted a proper burial for him in the Stormwind with the rest of the hero’s. She in the process found out about what the Lich King was doing and decided to fight for Azeroth. To protect the land and slay all of the evil in the world around her. As she was fighting the magic of a Death Knight and a radical arcane mage mixed and she turned into a dragon. She ended up hiding out for a while until a Tauren Druid took care of her until she turned into her humanoid form again. The Druid, Mauimoo, did the best she could with the aid of what the Pandaren people had taught her.

However Mauimoo did not anticipate her to turn into an elf though. Zephirah Zephirah Gnomethanked Mauimoo and ventured to Teldrassil where she found that she felt like she did not belong there. She did some minor work for the city and when she was ready she fought against Garrosh Hellscream. After the fight her body went into a frenzy again and turned into a Blood Elf. Ever since then she has followed Khadgar and his teachings.

Zephirah always felt like she could never go back home in her elf form. She absolutely hates it. She wants to be normal again. A gnome.

So, yes boys and girls. I am bi-factional and proud.

Warcraft: Virtual Ticket Shenanigans?

blizzcon-logo-og-39036eb778a980553e0d9aedc668c1b6ca825e46cb8c1d1b30cfe95e4e2918fcc0fd69e17666353c3f6c29541275f18ee8b2a5835bde018693283f4d05702142Blizzard recently let us know about the rewards for this year’s Blizzcon Virtual Ticket!

To be honest, the rewards are underwhelming. They are banners and cloaks. Some are upset due to what the rewards are and I can understand. In a recent stream, Panzer aka Trade Chat made a few good points that I wanted to highlight.

First of all, the reward’s are a bonus item that we receive as part of the virtual ticket sale in World Of Warcraft and other games under the Blizzard umbrella. We are actually spending the money for all of the panels, equipment used, and to pay people that are manning that equipment for their time. I know a lot of people think that they are missing out on the collectibles. Honestly, these in game goodies are not ideal but not the worst things in the world. There are so many various things out there in game right now that I still need to farm, so missing these items will not make or break the Blizzcon experience for me. However, there are others that view the lack of items as being a slap in the face. To have the classic play test being a part of it seems like that is what the extra ten dollars that people are paying for. Honestly, not everyone is into that idea and I do not blame them for feeling that way. They are separate things and should probably stay that way.

Panzer also mentioned that not all players will be into this and with the player’s email being attached to their accounts with the classic announcement is how we would know if the player has interest in classic or not.

This year for me, I know it is not really worth the value but spending the fifty dollars that I have saved on game time, card backs, or a mount or two on the store for World Of Warcraft would be the better bet. That is just a personal preference. Not that anyone spending the cash on the virtual ticket is a bad thing. If anything, I am glad that it is going to Blizzard rather then some crazy site that will just scam you out of the cash. Also, I just figure that fan site’s like wowhead, Blizzard Watch, Blizzpro and a plethora of podcast would fill out the news for me that will save me the money to put elsewhere.

I know that Panzer was a little salty and cursed a lot; however, if you get past the angry part and actually listen to what she had to say it made a lot of common sense.

World Questing: Music Motivation!

For all intensive purposes, let me lead this post of by saying that I absolutely love the soundtrack that the Blizzard team puts together for their expansions. However, at times I do need to listen to something different by other talented artist.

I want to give these artist the space to be creative and give them some of my attention as well when I game. To become immersed in what they are trying to achieve by listening in a way that I would naturally.

Once I listened to the following music I absolutely fell in love with all of the elements of the music.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Warcraft Wednesday: Haste, the new gateway drug!

Zeph hasteI know that secondary stats are not the focal point for any class or spec. I also know that item level is great to have at high levels. However, I have played a priest since Cataclysm and the need for haste is at all time high and it has little pay off.

Honestly, I am not sure if it is worth the trouble. For being ilvl 345, her haste is at 13%. It’s is underwhelming, and feels very slow.

Slow to the point of wanting me to rip my hair out. It is frustrating and at one point or another I feel like I should move on.

If you have no idea for the stat priority for a shadow priest is as follows: Intellect > Critical Strike > Haste > Mastery >= Versatility. Haste for consumables is also suggested. (Consumables are gem’s, enchants, and food that you would take with you into raids, five man dungeons at any level, and the other various things you would like to complete.) I know that for Battle For Azeroth the items will have a smaller amount of attributes overall on them, plus there are less secondary stats available in comparison to Legion. That is just how a stat squish works.

I know it seems like I am making a big deal out  of nothing, and lets face it, you should bring the player and not the class or item level; however, this just seems to be off to me. I am going to try and keep a good outlook for this but with how things are going that I should choose another class to play as a main for the expansion.
