Featured Blog: The Pink Dice Chronicles!

12pcopaquepinkwithgoldIt is refreshing to see a Dungeon Master share their thoughts via a blog. It explain’s everything from how they started their journey with Dungeons and Dragons, their thoughts on various rules, and a plethora of issues that can and have come up during their sessions.

I would strongly encourage reading a blog like this. It gives a player of Dungeons and Dragons a different perspective. Also, for as infrequent as the post are for this particular blog in question, it still provides solid content and great commentary on a verity of topic’s.

Take the time to read “The Pink Dice Chronicles” here!

Now I want a set of pink dice, thanks! 🙂

Let’s get weird!

Yes, boy’s and girls, lets get weird but not in the way your thinking. Ew, Dont even go there. I am talking about music, silly.

For the last two weeks I have had three songs in my head and each song is very different. The first being Hollywood Undead’s Medicine from their ‘Notes from the Underground’ album. The group has been described as a rock rap group and usually I do not go for a style like this. As far in left field in comparison to the the other two song as it is, it has a theme of some pretty harsh realities that can happen in someones life.

Take a listen to the song:

The second song is Hunter by Galantis. Swedish electronic group comprised of Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw. The song is from their album “The Aviary”.  It is also the seventh track that features uncredited lead vocals from Hannah Wilson. I know with in the last month or so I have been a lot of this style of music in a verity of ways. Honestly, this version of the song has me so excited. When the bass dropped so did my heart.

Listen to the song:

The third song has grabbed my attention pretty swiftly. “In The Name Of Love” by Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha is a pop inspired electronic song that has sunk its fangs into me. The song is a future bass that consist of an awesome blend of piano, bass, and guitar that hold together the song in such a way that forces you to pay attention.

Listen to the song:

So, with all the songs presented to you at this point. What has strung these specific sets of songs together for me?

The short answer: My Character in D&D currently. (I will not spoil things here kids. Sorry!) The longer answer: Just how will Zahara approach a situation that is will be in front of her eventually? I feel like the answers lay within the music here somewhere. How exactly, I am not sure. It will just depend on the adventure that she is involved in.

If you enjoyed any of the music you listened to today, please support the artist. Do not be that guy that steals music from the internet. That is just the douche way about going about it.

Feature Of The Week: D&D Dice!

Wednesday morning I was spending some time writing blog post and perusing through twitter when I had stumbled across a set of stunning purple galaxy dice. I promptly retweeted the photo.

I seriously believe I have a problem. Within the last month, I have purchased three full sets of dice for D&D, and four independent D20’s, and an extra random D4.  At the time of seeing the dice as shown in the photo, I also have my eyes set on two other full sets of dice.  The one set of dice that I have fell in love with recently is a set of purple steel. (The other set’s of dice can be found here and here.)

I am in love with collecting. These dice are unquestionably a set I would love to use in a session for my current campaign.

Zephirah’s Adventure: Easily Distracted By Dragons?

dragon.pngFor my readers that have been reading for a while, thank you. For those of you that are new here, welcome! I am going to make a completely obvious statement.

I am a huge nerd. I wave that flag proudly.

I even have a coffee cup that says “Nerds Rule” on it.

To answer the obvious title to this post. Am I easily distracted by dragons? Yes, I am. Obviously. This is not one of those moments or post where you should be hearing Talisen gently expressing to the fans that things are “a shit show, obviously!”

Dragon, the word itself, derives from the Latin language.  Draconem (nominative draco) meaning “huge serpent”; however,  it does not imply that there is any sort of mythological connotation’s to the word.  Also, the word comes from the ancient Greek word “draconta,” meaning “to watch,” suggesting that the beast guards valuables.

There is a long rich history of dragons and they were thought of as being the exotic animal that sometimes protective of the tower or princess. At other times vicious and dangerous creatures. Honestly, there is so much history that it is hard to sum up in a few short paragraph’s for a blog post and it is hard to figure out when or where the origin’s of the dragon started from. I would like to go into detail however, In this case the Wikipedia page for dragons does a great job of going into detail. It is a great and fantastic read. (Click here for the article!)

Another great recourse is from the American Museum of Natural History. They go into great detail and have sections that you can click through for some great information. (Link!)

I think I blabbered enough about dragons for the day. At least enough for a blog post anyhow! I will leave you with one of my favorite song’s by Imagine Dragons. Enjoy!

You’r WoW Soundtrack, Part 10: Rob Zombie!

Rob_Zombie_Living_Dead_Girl.jpgGreetings & salutations!

If you just so happen to live under a rock, do not have access to the internet, or a basic calendar, not only would you not be reading this but you would also not know that this Friday is the 13th. I decided to give this weeks blog post’s a theme.

If you have not figured it out by now the theme is Zombie’s. The theme is inspired by my D&D group that is currently running, Secrets Of Talonguard. If you are interested in listening to our campaign here is an iTunes link for you! (Click here!)

“Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International” is the solo debut album by Rob Zombie on August 25, 1998. The album serves as his first release outside of the band White Zombie, with whom he released two multi-platinum studio albums. The song “Living Dead Girl” is the second single from the album and I absolutely love it.  The music video for the single derives its imagery from Robert Wiene’s 1920 silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, with Zombie in the role of The Doctor.

It is wild to think that I have been a fan for this long but I have absolutely enjoyed the musical adventure. Thank you for all of the hard work and music Mr. Zombie. Really!
