Giannis Milonogiaannis is a comic book artist & writer who was born in Maryland in 1988 and grew up on the island of Crete, Greece. Since 2006 he had been self publishing his work including the Old City Blues web comic.
Old City Blues is set in the year 2049, within Southeastern Europe. Built on the ruins of the country once known as Greece, New Athens. It is a city crawling with life. From mech smugglers, drug dealers, to corrupt politicians and all-too-powerful corporations, the city is at the mercy of high-tech criminals. Now it’s up to Solano, Thermidor, and the rest of the New Athens Special Police to keep the city in order.
Looking though the Graphic novel, I enjoy the art style, a lot. Just wish I wasn’t late to the game with this one.
Preface: In Early November, I visited my local Goodwill (a thrift store) to see what I could purchase for family and friends during the Christmas season. When you first walk in there is a set of bins that you can shuffle through. Mostly old phone cases, small bags, scarf’s, and hats. I came across a purple iPad mini case that was purple. Purple is my favorite color, so I picked it up and it was slightly heavier then I thought the case should be. I flipped open the case, and found a kindle inside. I was sort of stunned. I payed three dollars for a five dollar case and a one hundred dollar device. The great people at amazon helped me update the firmware and reset and register the device under my name. Thank you Amazon. You guys rock!
The Martian is a science fiction novel by Andy Weir that was self published in 2011 that was adapted into a film featuring Matt Damon in 2015. There were several place’s around the web, including Good Read’s that has suggest this book to me. The story follows an American astronaut, Mark Watney, as he becomes stranded alone on Mars in the year 2035 after the rest of his crew believes he is dead after a dust storm.
Mark Watney is logging everything he can and tries desperately to repair the communications dish to let NASA know he is alive.
I do not want to spoil the story for anyone who has not read the book or watched the movie; however, Weir was very much inspired by science to wright this book. He worked very hard to have accurate information. There is not a lot of fluff. It is very clean in its approach to the science. I really am enjoying the pace of the book so far.
I just started reading the book but as you can see I am really enjoying it. After reading the book, I will definitely watch the movie.
