Thursday Thoughts: Azerite Gear

traits-azerite-interfaceI would like to start by saying that not everyone is in the loud minority that complain’s about everything that is wrong with the current state of World Of Warcraft. I also know that not everyone knows how to approach Blizzard with an appropriate suggestion to resolve the current issues. We as players need to remember that we are players and not a developer of games. At least the vast majority of us never actually designed a game from the ground up. Nor do we have the said skills to do so. Most of us need to learn our place in the world.

For the entitlement part of this situation, I guess the casuals casualed their way to casually high casual item level. You have to work for what you want even if you do not like how things are working out. I know that I do not like the Azerite system but I am not letting it be a focal point on how I play the game. I have always enjoyed pet battling and running old raid’s solo on my main and plethora of alts. Neither of them involve Azerite or the gear involved in that system. As a by product, I am gathering gold as a passive way to keep me above water and to purchase mats for raiding on Tuesday night’s with my raid team in Convert To Raid. The Rubber Chicken Coalition is a great group of people and I am super happy that they let me tag along on weekly basis.

The current issue with Azerite each piece has a predetermined set of traits that can not change under any circumstances. Even if a reforge was allowed on the item, it would cause a huge amount of gold and you may not get the trait that you are needing on that particular character that you would need. The randomness of it all seems to be janky at best. I know not everyone has the time or energy to spend trying to get the gear from lfr or normal due to work and family life. Also, for the ones who are suggesting to add Azerite pieces to mythic pluses, it will currently not fix the randomness of it all and it will remain the same situation.

With that all being said, I busted my butt to get my priest where she is currently. Is it great, no. However, I am making the most of the situation with what I have. I know I have to adjust around the gear I have. What I can say in a positive light for Azerite gear is that Blizzard is trying out a new way to do thing and it may take a little bit to perfect it. Now everything takes five minuets to fix or adjust in game. I know that the Warcraft team is making an effort to look at things, do their research, and apply changes to the gear that is the game currently. For that, I thank them for working so hard.

So, you are going to ask what it will take for the Azerite gear to be good? Take a look at your own games, specifically Warcraft. What worked in previous expansions? What did not and why? If something worked previously but was overpowered, how can you adjust it for the Azerite gear? What about your other IP’s like Diablo?

I had seen in one of the many forum post on the Blizzard website about “Azerite Rewiring”. It seems to be a semi-decent idea. It covers cost for redoing each ring of traits, and with each time you choose that it would randomize the traits in each ring with one of those said traits will always be there. Meaning each ring would have an improved base trait. I am not sure if this is something that is feasible from a development side. However, these are my thoughts and hopefully they will take a look at the loot!

WoW: Boredom?

At this time in most expansions most players become plagued with boredom. So, I know a few questions that come to mind when a player says this about a game they enjoy. Lets go through some of them shall we? Sure!

Mythic’s? Who wants to do that?

World Quest? I already did a metric butt ton! No!

Farm AP? No!

Sigh, I am sure taking a break at this point may be a good idea. However with the minimal amount of time that play, what is it that you want to do?

For me, and this is a personal preference, Tuesday’s are my one and only raid day. LFR and I go into Antorus with my team. My team has alternating weeks of heroics with mains & alt nights in normal. It is a great pace for me and never feels overwhelming. For that I would like to thank my team from the Convert To Raid guild, ‘The Rubber Chicken Coalition’ for making raiding a good spot for me to come into and feeling welcomed and a place to get better and improve.

The other days I do happen to log in it is not for very long, it usually to run old raids for mounts and I like to do that during the weekends. Otherwise it is a random day and I am leveling an alt, and overall, I am ok with that.

Collector’s Corner: Battle Pets!

Battle Pets

Preface: This chart is from Warcraft Pets. You can see their logo on the left side of the blog. Please take a moment to see what their website is about & use it as the great tool it is! I also took this screen shot on April second, I just wanted to mark a huge step in the right direction. At this time last year I would never have imagined that I would have been top 100 on the realm. I also wrote this article on the second of April, so If I end up getting the achievements stated in the article, I will post an update!

Hello, My Name is Zephirah, and I am a collector of Battle Pets. I have a problem. I want to catch them all. No matter what time it is. Weather 3 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon.

Sigh.

I have a goal to be at the top of the realm before the new expansion drops. This is a huge undertaking, and quite an adventure. So far this expansion, I am absolutely sure that I have spent close to 200 k gold on Battle Pets. That is a lot of gold. That equals the amount of the tokens currently.

I am not sure If I like Battle Pets more then I enjoy my morning cup of coffee; however, whenever I am on a roll with world quest or whatever and I pass a pet I do not currently have in my catalog, I come to a complete stop. I zone out, and just battle and try to catch the pet in question.

battle pet achievement.JPGI currently need a total of five pets for two achievements. Three for the “Kalimdor Safari” achievement (Minfernal, Silthid Hatchling, and Stone Armadillo) and two for the “Northrend Safari” achievement (Arctic Fox Kit and Scourcged Whelping). If I gather those pets it will grant me a third achievement and a title. The achievement, “World Safari” and the title of “Zoo Keeper”. I am so close that I can taste it.

I know I will get there!
