Book Of The Month: The Iron King!

6644117November’s book of the month is The Iron King by Julie Kagawa! This novel is the starter for the “Iron Fey” series about a young lady named Meghan Chase,  who finds herself drawn into the world of the Fey.

I read reviews about the book and the main character, Meghan, had her little brother taken and replaced with a changeling. She has an adventure and tries to find her brother.

I am super excited to get started on the book and it should be a great read. I will have a follow up review!

If you are interested in reading the book check your local library. My local library has an app that I can use to read the book via my kindle! If you would like to support the author, please purchase the book at the following links!

Shout Outs:

Weekly the podcast All Things Azeroth has a “Question of the week” that I usually participate in. This week’s question was, What content creator (Blizzard related or otherwise) would you like to give a special shout out to? My answer was quite simple and I am going to use it for my shout outs this week. So, Other then the obvious answer being the crew here on this podcast. I would like to shout out TheGameCase for having me on my first podcast a while ago, for showing me that I have the potential to do such creative things. For Draven, for also inviting me as well – for the same reasons. Frazley, Lord of the Punted for teaching me that you have to power through the mistakes you make and be a better person for it. For Ben & Jon from Azeroth Roundtable for being a very good pair and having the ability to have differing opinions and still able to have a great & entertaining conversation. For Barf, not only being the lead of the greeters in Convert To Raid, but for being one of many of my biggest supporters, and giving some of the best advice. Also, Sal – the best shaman’s ever – and one of the sweetest ladies I know. Lastly to Rho for all the fantastic work he does.

June’s Book Of The Month: Milk & Honey

The book is a self published debut collection of poetry, that was released in November 2014, and is a New York Times bestseller.

‘Milk and Honey’ is divided into four chapters. Each chapter serves a different purpose (violence, abuse, love, loss, & femininity). On that note, I would like to place a note here that the collection may be triggering for some that would potentially reading it.

I, honestly, understood where she was going with this. The theme’s in the collection are topic’s that are hard to go through for a human. On that note, a lot of people in their reviews around the web have been other highly critical or were absolutely enthralled. I tend to fall right in the middle of the grey area.

The poems are relateable, sure, but that’s where it comes to an end for me. This book seems to be a series of extremely cliche sentiments about self-love, romance,  and social issues, that are chopped up to look like poetry.

Just know that this book is not going to be for everyone, or a larger audience, and I would strongly recommend for a parent to at least have a once over through the book before allowing their preteen or teenager have a go at it. I would also go as far to say, It was snippets of things that happened to the young author that should really not happen. Just because its emotionally charged – and edited in a different way does not really make it poetry, or good for that matter.

Wonder: Book Of The Month

wonder.jpgWonder is a children’s book about August Pullman and his story about his life with a facial deformity.

August, a home schooled fifth-grader living in North River Heights in Upper Manhattan with his parents, details a bunch of medially needed surgery’s, the passing of his dog, and starting to go to an actual school.

As sad as I am for August and his circumstances, you see how bright he is. The book is laced with a few laugh out loud moments. Its about life and how some kids can be cruel but how a child works through these times of their life’s.

It really worth a read no matter your age, it will provide you a different perspective on life.
