Thursday Thought’s: Gaming With Migraine’s!

Lets face it, any level of pain sucks. Some tend to handle it better then others. However, let’s talk about migraine’s! I have, for several years, dealt with a varying degree of headaches to full fledged debilitating migraines. I also, for several years, played Warcraft. At times, these two things do not mix.

A couple times, for up to 4 to 5 days in length, have had my fair share of migraines. One time, a couple years ago, a migraine had me laying in bed for just about 2 weeks. Doctors do not understand why it lasted that long. I wanted to work, and game, and be a part of the community. I just could not sit up for more then twenty minuets.

Migraines for each person who has them effects them differently. For me it was a throbbing at my temples, forehead, and a cracking feeling on the top my skull. Every time I have a migraine, I experience dizziness, sensitivity to light and sound, and am nauseated. Trying to play Warcraft, or any of my various other favorite games, is very hard in that condition.

As for me now, I still get them. They still very in how bad they are and honestly I do not wish this type of pain on anyone. So, if you are suffering from these monsters, see your doctor, get them treated. Then come back to the games that you love.

Warcraft Wednesday: How To Be Unpopular in the Warcraft World!

Greetings fellow gamers. In this Warcraft Wednesday post we are going to talk about toxicity within the game we love. Just as a note for the readers, I am not painting the entire player base like this. I also know a bunch of players that are absolutely fantastic. This post is also generalizing a lot of situations or things that I have seen happen within the game. Hopefully you do not have to deal with this type of thing within Warcraft.

So, lets start with Trade Chat. Trade Chat at times can be filled with name calling, political talk that turns ugly, or some random conversation that turned bad. I honestly do not mind to have a conversation with someone or a group of people that I happen to disagree with. The only thing I ask for is the conversation be civil. No need to turn to name calling or be nasty with someone who just so happens to have a different opinion. That type of situation is getting old and honestly, most players are of an adult age. We as a whole should know better. I often find myself other not paying attention to chat because of it or putting trade chat in its own window in the UI and not ever clicking on that tab.

The second thing I want to address is instances. Not the mechanic’s or the instance themselves. What I am talking about here is when a tank or a healer or random dps does something wrong or does not have enough healing power to heal through the massive amount of damage, more often then not it turns into a slug fest among the players verbally. For example, one of the ranged DPS randomly pulls another pack and one of the others in the instance says “Hey, healer, you *$#^@ suck. Why did you let me die?” or something along the lines of “Tank, you suck” or whatever. Then the conversation goes no further. It sometimes comes to the tank, random DPS, or healer being kicked. For those of you that do that, it is a shame. Really. Player characters have names you know. At times it can be a complete shit show!

I know there are some players that do not really know how to play their class or they have picked the wrong class for themselves. I absolutely understand that and honestly, it is a valid point. I am not suggesting that a player give up on their toon either. What I am suggesting is for a player to spend the time learning the class they are working on and for the player base to give a player time to learn and be kind and try to use what you have to teach if you know about their class. Not be “that guy” and be rude.

This has been on my mind for a while and thank you for allowing me to spill my guts.

Zephirah’s Musical Adventure: Within Temptation!

The Reckoning
By Within Temptation
FT JACOBY SHADDIX

February first the seventh studio album ‘Resist’ will be released by Within Temptation. It was scheduled to be released on December 14, 2018 but because of delays with production, it was pushed back.

I have been listening to Within Temptation for years and the anticipation of this album’s release has me extremely excited. This album marks the longest amount of time between album release’s. I already am enjoying the singles and always encourage everyone to listen.

MTG Monday: Digital Or Physical?

MTG card back!

The last few days I have spent a couple hours playing MTG Arena. I am having fun no matter weather I win or have my butt handed to me on a silver platter. With the release of ‘Ravnica Allegiance’ it got me thinking. Is it worth spending your hard earned cash on digital cards?

I already have a pretty extensive set of cards, and have every intent on spending actual money on completing my Amonkhet set for Magic! The Gathering. So, it would seem for me that purchasing physical cards is the thing to do for me. However, for the person who does not have card’s in their hand, I can see playing Arena and getting the digital version of cards to be easier to get into.

Essentially, play the game the way you feel is the best for you. No matter what form.

Thursday Thought’s: Documentary & General Nerdity!

As stated in a previous blog post I had shared that I am currently helping my younger brother enter in cards to the MTGGoldfish site because he received a box filled with one thousand of them. Honestly I do not mind helping either.

Within the last week I have turned on Netflix on my Roku, and put on a documentary. I first watched “Gaga: Five Foot Two” that shown us the production and release of her fifth studio album, ‘Joanne’, and her performance at the Superbowl. I found it interesting just how hard she works as a performer.

The second documentary I watched was “Amy” that documented her adult life, addictions, eating disorder & music creation of Amy Winehouse. It was sad to see Amy struggle with all she had to deal with. It is sad that she had to lose her battle with all of her aliments. I quickly followed up with a Netflix original film called “To The Bone” that follows a 20 year old lady named “Ellen” that is dealing with anorexia and her journey of self-discovery at a group home run by an unusual doctor.

Essentially, I spent time learning about people, fictional or otherwise, and all while entering in the cards into the database. So far, it has been fun.
