The Pharaoh: Musical Motivation!

pharaoh_coverartIn mid 2000, just shy of a year after it’s release, I stumbled on a game and once I spent a little bit of time with it I knew I was hooked.

What game you ask? Pharaoh. It is an isometric city-building game that was released on October 31, 1999, created by Impressions Games and published by Sierra Studios, for Microsoft Windows. I know that I have spent a lot of time previous to this release playing other similar games; however, this drew me in because of the complexities of the goals that you must reach in order to move on and the music.

The management of your city in Pharaoh is a very hands-on experience. It engaged me since the inception and honestly, the music was a huge part of that experience. It in comparison to various other games in the current market is vastly different and honestly, it is still fun if you want to get your hands into something other then the other popular games at the moment. I do not know any other video game that has exclusive Egyptian themes that I would dive into because Pharaoh has spoiled me that much.

The video above is a very good example of what you would hear in the game. I always found the movement in music like this amazing. For a 19 year old game to keep me engaged, and in large part due to the music, is very impressive.

MTG Monday: Holy land cards Batman!

Magic-The-Gathering-card backI over a weekend had put over two hundred cards into the MTGGoldfish site. Not including the land cards. I know I have a few hundred of those of well. I know at one point or another I counted them and promptly forgot that number.

All I know that there are a boat load of them that I have.

My attempt for entering them into the site has been nothing short of daunting. I am close to just paying my little brother to input them into the database for me.

Not that I am being lazy or anything. I did put a few of the cards in. I found out, and remember kids this is just due to the data MTGGoldfish has, one of my land cards are in the seventeen dollar range and has held steady there for the last few weeks.

On that note, holy land cards Batman! It is such a process to go through to find the correct one in the vast list. I know I eventually will have them all entered though – even if I have the extra help from my brother.

Feature Friday: Eyes Of The Beast!

250px-hunter_crestEyes Of The Beast is one of the prettiest blogs that I have been to in a while. It is also informative if you are a hunter.

There is a bunch of Hunter news, guides, pets, transmog, and anything else related to the class is featured on the blog. The blog is written and maintained by a dwarven hunter named Bendak. He’s been playing his hunter for 13+ years and his alts. He also had some articles featured on WoWhead and is a cohost of “The Hunting Party” podcast.

If you have not yet had the chance to take a loot at the blog, visit it here: http://eyesofthebeast.com/

Greetings BFA, Nice to meet you!

Aloha!

So, any of you 120 yet?

I know that this is a short post however I wanted to at least poke my head in and say I was still alive – maybe not in Azeroth – but in real life I am.

Hopefully you all are enjoying yourselves with the new content!

❤ Zeph

P.S. I Will make a post with a bunch of screenshots for you soon. Yes, it will be a spoiler post so if you have not seen anything yet you may want to avoid it. I will also have a warning at the beginning of the post.

BFA: Where Does My Allegiance Lay?

WoWScrnShot_122017_194904With Battle For Azeroth in full swing, I do not ever remember actually choosing a “side” or faction and without ever explaining why. Let me do that now. The short answer is neither.

Shocking? Right? Nope actually. I know I am not the only one that feels this way. It in no way unique or special. The only difference is not everyone has the time or place to voice their opinions like I have the privilege to.

My reason for feeling this way runs deep and I am going to try not to be long winded about it.

I started off Horde when I officially started to play World of Warcraft. I always felt like they were the bad asses of the two. However, I do not follow the current warchief’s way of doing things. Saurfang attacked Malfurian in a dishonorable way. That is just not what I thought the horde would do. At least not Saurfang. Now, Sylvanas is another story. She did get stabbed by the Lich King’s sword, Frostmourne, and that would drive any soul to madness. For that and her sinister urge to do horrible acts to her alive counterparts is not a surprise. However, War Crimes I can not support. For any reason. (By the way, I enjoyed the story elements in this and will not take the approach other players chose to take and bash the company that has made the game. Let’s que the Taliesin famous words to describe that situation. “It is a shit show, obviously!”)

With all of that said, for role play and for nothing else, Zephirah (My priest that is slowly being taken over by the void) will be following the Kirin Tor and where ever Khadgar will go.

I will always stand for Azeroth.

Let’s get weird!

Yes, boy’s and girls, lets get weird but not in the way your thinking. Ew, Dont even go there. I am talking about music, silly.

For the last two weeks I have had three songs in my head and each song is very different. The first being Hollywood Undead’s Medicine from their ‘Notes from the Underground’ album. The group has been described as a rock rap group and usually I do not go for a style like this. As far in left field in comparison to the the other two song as it is, it has a theme of some pretty harsh realities that can happen in someones life.

Take a listen to the song:

The second song is Hunter by Galantis. Swedish electronic group comprised of Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw. The song is from their album “The Aviary”.  It is also the seventh track that features uncredited lead vocals from Hannah Wilson. I know with in the last month or so I have been a lot of this style of music in a verity of ways. Honestly, this version of the song has me so excited. When the bass dropped so did my heart.

Listen to the song:

The third song has grabbed my attention pretty swiftly. “In The Name Of Love” by Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha is a pop inspired electronic song that has sunk its fangs into me. The song is a future bass that consist of an awesome blend of piano, bass, and guitar that hold together the song in such a way that forces you to pay attention.

Listen to the song:

So, with all the songs presented to you at this point. What has strung these specific sets of songs together for me?

The short answer: My Character in D&D currently. (I will not spoil things here kids. Sorry!) The longer answer: Just how will Zahara approach a situation that is will be in front of her eventually? I feel like the answers lay within the music here somewhere. How exactly, I am not sure. It will just depend on the adventure that she is involved in.

If you enjoyed any of the music you listened to today, please support the artist. Do not be that guy that steals music from the internet. That is just the douche way about going about it.

MTG: Deck Box’s

Magic-The-Gathering-card backFor those of us that actively play Magic! The Gathering and travel with your cards to a location it is worth investing something to protect them.

Some collectors and players spend hundreds, if not thousands on their entire deck. Recently, an Alpha Black Lotus in mint condition sold for $87,672.00. That is a single card. I am not in anyway surprised by the number but lets face it – even for my noobish set of cards – I still want to protect my investments.

I did a search via Amazon and there are so many options available to us. Ultra PRO is the most common on the market for deck case’s. Nothing to fancy about their basic ones – usually a solid color with their logo on the top.

On that note, I found quite a few box’s that I fell in love with on Etsy. WendersWonder’s has a few options available and they are all beautiful. You can find their shop here.

So, long story short. Support artist that you like and protect your stuff all at the same time. Heck, even if it is some three ring binder with card sleeve’s and some unique art that someone had made for you to put in the front of the binder, that would be cool as well!
